The Quilt That Came for Christmas

Very Mary's Very Talented Grandma is the quilter in the family. She has created amazing quilts for every member of the Very Large, Very Extended family, including two for Very Mary with a third on the way. Very Mary's grandma has Very Mad skills. Very Mary, while Very Crafty, had never ever attempted to quilt. Until this year. "Self," she said to herself, "Very Grandma deserves a quilt." See, Very Mary's grandma has made all these beautiful quilts for everyone else, but no one has ever thought to make a quilt for her. Until this year.

Very Mary decided to implement her newly acquired embroidery skills as well as her novice quilting skills to create a whimsical, holiday-inspired, crazy-ish, rag quilt for the Very Grandma. To say that the project was a labor of love would be the understatement of the century. Altogether, Very Mary estimates that she spent about 50 to 75 hours on this quilt. It will be gifted during the Very Family party, and Very Mary cannot wait to see the look on her grandmother's face. She even wrapped some tissues on top, just in case.

For her first-ever quilt, Very Mary think it's Very Cute. In fact, it mostly turned out in real life like she thought it would in her head. And she assures you, things rarely turn out in real life like they do in her head. Like her whole first marriage. At any rate, Very Mary invites you to click on these photos to enlarge them.

Well, I have to say, "the girl's got skills"!! WOW, ooooo, ahhhh, and all of that.

You never cease to amaze me Mary Ann. Grandma's quilt is beyond words. I'm glad you packed some tissues with the quilt . . . she's going to need them. I mean, hey, you sure don't want her wiping her tears on that quilt! *smiles*

It is LOVELY! I must agree with you though....my sister made two quilts and then said ENOUGH and never went back! Just watching her was enough to keep me from ever trying!

Excellent job! Grandma's going to love it! What's the word on the Lasik, by the way? I haven't seen you post the outcome of your last visit and/or whether you're able to SEE better? Although you certainly seemed to see Bert just fine! LOL! Merry Christmas to you, Mary Ann!
